Sep 09, 2012 I have a 2011 pro and a 2008 macbook. My thought is that if USB to HDMI adapter works, why not get one and it will work for all the macs or pcs, and I don't need to worry about the mini dvi or min displayport or audio support, right? The USB to HDMI adapter does mention that it support 1080P video. Converts HDMI digital signal to VGA analog signal: 3.5mm audio port sends audio to speakers or a display. This adapter works only in one direction “HDMI to VGA”. It can not convert from VGA to HDMI. HDMI to VGA Adapter supports a VGA resolution of a maximum of 1920 x 1080 pixels at a refresh rate of 60Hz.
I have this problem as well. My Apple Lightning Digital AV Adaptor would plug into my phone and the HDMI cable and I would simply change the source on my Samsung TV to HDM2/DVI. Now that option is grayed out. This Adaptor was expensive and now it doesn't work, I can no longer stream programs onto my TV ever since I upgraded to 11.0.3. Is there a way to downgrade back to 11.0.2 so I can avoid this problem? I really don't want to pay for cable TV but I like to watch news programs such as MSNBC, CNN, ESPN, CSpan, and other news programs that are not available on Roku, etc.

- Connect an HDMI or VGA cable to your adapter.
- Connect the other end of your HDMI or VGA cable to your secondary display (TV, monitor, or projector).
- Turn on your secondary display.
- If necessary, switch to the correct video source on your secondary display. If you need help, use your display's manual.
Now the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch should appear2 on your TV, display, or projector.
Charge your iOS device while it's connected to a display
Most adapters have an extra Lightning connector or 30-pin Dock connector, so you can charge your iOS device while connected to a secondary display. Just connect a Lightning to USB or Dock Connector to USB to the adapter. Then plug the USB connector into a power source.

Find out what to do when you have the following issues.
If you see video but can't hear audio
Make sure that you're using a Digital AV adapter (which has an HDMI port). If you're using a VGA adapter, it doesn't carry audio signals. To hear audio with a VGA adapter, you need to connect to the headset jack on your TV, monitor, projector, or stereo.
If an app doesn't display video or play audio
The app might not be compatible with your adapter. Check compatibility on the app's info page in the App Store or contact the developer.
